The Artisan Process

The workshop

A workshop in Vic, seventy kilometers from Barcelona

This is where we design and make every bag, keeping the artisan spirit that defines us. We're a team of about ten people, some of whom have been with the workshop for over twenty years: a small family of local artisans, led by Pitu Alabern as master craftsman.

The leather

We work with domestic leather from Vic and Igualada, along with premium Italian leather. Each hide is chosen by hand, checking the grain and how it will hold up over time.

Pattern-making and cutting

We draw and cut every piece with a cutter, ruler, and square, making the most of the hide. We then skive the edges, which we'll later finish with paint.

Stitching

This is the step that takes the longest. We go over every line by hand or with machines that have been in the workshop for decades, until it's perfect.

Finishing

Edge painting, rivets, hardware: the details that set a well-made bag apart from an ordinary one. This is where each model finally takes on its character.

Quality control

Before leaving the workshop, we inspect every bag one by one. If something doesn't convince us, it doesn't go out. That's how it's been since 1967, and that's how we continue.

We work the leather by hand and dye it using traditional methods, so every bag keeps small irregularities in grain or color. These aren't a flaw — they're the signature of a handmade craft.
